VR+ offers a simple and efficient interface to quickly record and send voicemail to your contacts. This may be of good use if you want to get your point over, and simply don’t want to waste time talking to your contact. VR+ has simple playback features that can be executed without needing to dig into the menu.

The program records in MP3, which should give you good enough quality, however it will also depend on your device and the amount of noise in your surroundings. Your voicemail can be sent as a message or as a URL to your contacts.

We were impressed with all the little helpful details in the application. Pop up tips appear every now and then, and you can even choose the amount of memory you allocate to your recordings. These can be organized in categories or by date.

In all, a simple and streamlined solution to record and send voicemail to your contacts with ease.

There are plenty of applications for taking screen captures on your PC, but what happens if you want to grab an image of your phone’s display in order to highlight something to your friends, or report a technical problem, for instance? Well, grab a copy Best Screen Snap and your problems will be solved.

Best Screen Snap is specifically designed to take screenshots of applications installed on your workstation. To capture a screen with Best Screen Snap, just run the program, select the appropriate option, go to to the window you want to capture and press the key predefined shortcut key.

The program includes a number of useful options besides the basic capturing tool, including the ability to save in different formats (it’s limited to just JPEG or BMP though), a function for batch renaming the captures, plus functions for sending them Bluetooth or InfraRed.

Unfortunately the program doesn’t including any editing tools, but in terms of capturing snapshots of applictions running on your phone, Best Screen Snap certainly lives up to its rather boastful name.

Totem 1.0-Build your own totem poles

In the days before burglar alarms and CCTV, the best way to scare people off away from your property was to install a totem pole.

If you want to draw out your tribal instincts then install Totem on your Pocket PC. The game sees you try to stack as many blocks as you can in order to build totem poles. You simple tap a button and the block will fall from the top and land onto the existing tower. At least, that’s the theory. In practice you have to be careful to time it just right so the block lands in a central position at the top of the pole. Get it wrong too many times and your totem will start to topple or, worse still, fall down.

The overall presentation of Totem is very nice, with bouncy, upbeat music and fun, colorful graphics. There are some simple tutorials which explain concisely how to play the game. The Options menu allows you to tweak things like sound volume and quality, and apply a battery meter or minigrid.

The action itself gets a bit repetitive. Well, very repetitive actually. I think the process of stacking blocks could’ve been made a little more exciting by having more obstacles or power-ups that vary the gameplay. That said, there is a bit of a story element within Totem to keep your attention. Build up enough points by making combos and filling your village with totems and you’ll get to unlock new tribes.

Totem is a fun and well-polished game – it’s just the action itself is a little wooden.

Fast & Furious The Game Test Drive 0.4.4-Burn some rubber in this classy movie spin-off

Fast & Furious has become something of a classic among metalheads. If you’re a fan of the movie, or just like driving very, very fast, then make sure you check out Fast & Furious The Game Test Drive.

The game sees you take control of a charged-up supercar, going up against two other drivers in a road battle through picturesque countryside. The objective, as with the film, is to beat your opponent then cash in your ‘pink slip’ to take ownership of his car. This vehicle then gets added to your garage and you can use it in any race (until such time as someone wins it back off of you). This ‘Test Drive’ version of Fast & Furious The Game only allows you to play against the computer, but in the full version you can play against others over WiFi, which promises to be very fun when it comes to betting pink slips for cars.

The thing I liked most about Fast & Furious The Game is its control system, which make intuitive use of the iPhone’s hardware. Instead of having fiddly pedals on the touchscreen as most racing games do, Fast & Furious uses auto-accelerate. If you want to slow down (or reverse) you just tap anywhere on the screen. Steering is done by tilting your device left and right. It makes for an incredible natural drive, and I can see this control system quickly becoming the norm with iPhone racers.

The graphics in Fast & Furious The Game are very good, though no spectacular. The animation gives you a real sense of speed on all of the three camera angles. Sound effects are realistic too, although there is no music in the game.

Overall, Fast & Furious The Game Test Drive is well worth taking for a spin, especially if you dig the movie.

Plop Art Sudoku 1.1-Sudoku for people who hate numbers

I don’t know about you but when I see a Sudoku grid it reminds me of horrible math exams which really puts me off playing. If you’re as afraid of numbers as me then give Plop Art Sudoku a try.

It works in much the same way as classic Sudoku, only in Plop Art Sudoku the numbers are replaced by cute little creatures. For me, it made the game much easier and more enjoyable than the numeric version. All you need to do is tap on an empty space and then choose a character from the box at the top of the grid. If the character can fit there you’ll get a messages saying ‘Great’. If not, you’ll have to try again.

There are four difficulty levels to choose from in Plop Art Sudoku, and 100 different puzzles to play, so this is a game that will keep you hooked for some time. Unfortunately, you’ll need to upgrade in order to play 99 of the puzzles because, rather stingily, only one level is playable in this demo version.

The graphics in Plop Art Sudoku are very bright and colorful, and the sound effects are fun too. The game includes a high scores table, although you can’t compete online with other Plop Art Sudoku players.

For kids, or anyone who prefers thinking in pictures rather than numbers, Plop Art Sudoku is worth investigating as an alternative to the popular puzzle game.

The program ships with a couple of predefined effects. But you will be able to create new effects using simple formulas to map one frequency to another frequency.

The formular for the build in robot voice is:

x*(1- stark)+((len / 2-1-x)*x / (len / 2))*stark

for example. Simply try to change the existing formulas to create your own effects and your own monster voice.
