I had to write a review between the Motorola S9 HD Bluetooth Headphones and Best Buy’s Rocketfish Bluetooth Stereo Headphones because when I was trying to find reviews, I could not find any that compared the 2 products. I desperately wanted to buy a pair of bluetooth stereo headphones with a gift certificate I won at work. The motorola S9 HD sounds great, but the design is so flawed that I just had to return it. It sounds great (but not as good as Best Buy’s signature Rocketfish Bluetooth Stereo Headphones, but I’ll get into that later#, but the weight is so disproportionately heavy at the back, that it sags very badly towards the back and it sags so badly that it pulls the part of the headphones that go over the ear down so hard that it actually hurts after about 10 minutes. I really wanted these headphones to work, I really did, but it was such an unbearably flawed design that I had to return them.

Now… after returning this product, I bought Best Buy’s Rocketfish Bluetooth Stereo Headphones because of all the positive ratings I read about it on this website and on Best Buy’s website. These headphones are absolutely incredible! Let me just say that the fit is just right… they sag a little bit after about 30 minutes of use, but because the weight is distributed more evenly, they’re not as uncomfortable. They actually sag less than the wired counterparts of this design made by Sony. This is the best product of this kind out there right now. NOW… about the sound… I thought they sounded JUST AS GOOD as the Motorola S9 HD headphones when I first used them! BUT, then I realized that they had an equilizer setting that the Motorola headphones do not. When I set the equilizer on my preferred setting, the sound quality blew the Motorolas away. Now, the only caveat is that these are over-the-ear headphones that may make one feel kinda dorky if you care about how you look at the gym# and because they are over-the-ear, those around you may be able to hear what you’re listening to #again, if you care about that kinda stuff). In any case, they are lightweight enough to run with and the reception is so CLEAR AND GREAT! I can literally walk 30 feet away and these headphones are still crystal clear. Most bluetooth stereo headphones “claim” 30 feet of distance, but actually start to break up after about 10 feet. These headphones truly have range. Also, if you’re the kind of person that wants to use these in the gym while lifting weights, they are perfect for that! You can simply leave your headphones on the floor nearby or in a cubby hole if the gym provides one, and continue to get crystal clear signal through your entire workout with NO WIRES!!! Again, they are comfortable and lightweight, and whether you are lifting weights or running, they’re the best!

Comfortable, and quick/easy to pair with devices. Have paired it with a bluetooth laptop, a laptop with a bluetooth usb dongle, and my blackberry no problems. This is my second pair of bluetooth headphones, my first being by logitech , when bluetooth headphones were just coming out. They stopped working after about 3 years, and was forced to shop for a replacement. These headphones are just what I was looking for, a simple pair of bluetooth headphones to provide cordless listening, comfort, and great sound. I use them at work, so even playing them on low drowns out the sounds of the office. The 3 or 4 sound settings it has are pretty nice bonus feature too.

Can’t speak much about the headset utility of them though, I only use them for listening, not has a hands-free device. I can vouch that they did activate my voice dialing on my blackberry, and controll the media player (volume, play/pause, fwd/rev), but I don’t know how they work for phone calls.

Wow, this is great wireless headphone. The sound quality is perfect, can’t complaint. The pair is easy and connection is solid, even though I’m like 30′ away from the Iphone. I never experienced the dropped connection. The headphone is a little tight, it wraps around your head, but it also cancels out the outside noise due to the tightness. The price is justified. Strongly recommend.

I did a lot of research before finally selecting and buying these headphones. I wanted a set of headphones to use in the gym and at my desk at work, so that I could play music from my Palm Pre phone. I was pleasantly surprised with these headphones. The sound is quite good – not excellent, but you aren’t going to get excellent sound with Bluetooth, at least not comparable to a great set of wired headphones. The headphones have several equalization profiles, and I do not get “ear fatigue” after hours of listening like I do with some headphones.

The headphones have full AVRC controls (play/pause/skip forward/back) on them. This works perfectly with my Palm Pre. I see lots of people complaining that this does not work with their iPhone – this is not the headphones fault, it’s because the iPhone does not fully support AVRC. I like it, because I can shove my phone in my pocket, and use the buttons on the headphones to skip and pause tracks as needed.

The headphones have a microphone, and when I am listening to music, and a phone call comes in, it pauses the music and plays a ringing tone. Pressing the power/answer button answers the call, and my callers report the sound is very good. When the call ends (either by pressing the power/answer button again, or when the caller hangs up), the music resumes automatically.

The headphones lock onto my head very well, and stay put without moving while jogging or exercising. They were initially a bit too tight for me, so I put the plastic headband into some boiling water very briefly, until the plastic softened up, and I bent it out a slight bit.

The rechargeable battery lasts basically forever. I can’t tell you exactly how long, because I have never run it out before. I have used the headphones for 14 hours before recharging, and they were still going strong at that point.

The only real weakness I found is the headband. It is rigid, and while I’m not about to experiment on it, it seems like it could be fragile, as well. I’m afraid that catching the headphones on something accidentally, or having them bent when thrown in a bag or something might break it. Like I said, this is just my impression – it may not be true at all, it’s just what I infer from how it feels.

Overall, I’m very happy with these headphones, and I would most certainly buy them again, or recommend them to anyone looking for a quality stereo Bluetooth headset.

Sound quality is acceptable, definitely not audiophile grade. Kind of uncomfortable to wear for an extended period, especially if you wear glasses. Haven’t had an opportunity to test the battery life yet. Wireless range is within bluetooth standards. Was difficult to pair at first, but I figured it out. Has a neat 3D sound feature that is not advertised in the listing, don’t know why.

I would recommend these to anyone except an audio snob.

I got this from Best buy for my iPod 5G(aka iPod Video). I also had to get a Bluetooth transmitter so it would work on the iPod.

Are those sweat proof? I’m looking for one and use it for running on treadmill. I tried the S9HD but they can’t handle the sweat they broke after running for three miles.

I bought the RocketFish Mobile, which are the same Blue Tooth set (bind the neck ear phone style). The sound quality was fantastic, they did require that I buy a USB Blue Tooth adapter for my PC and it was a little bit of work configuring them to the PC. Note: the config will over-ride your Sound Card settings as it has its own exclusive functionality features.

I returned the Head-Phone style as they were pinching my ears terribly (I’ll have to try these ear-bud style design).

You can find the Motorola S9HD headphones for $60 or so if you look around online. I have the S9HD’s and love them. To me the Rocketfish ones just look cheap.
