If you care at all about your phone then you’d be foolish not to install some kind of security software on it.
Kaspersky Mobile Security is designed to protect you from a range of threats and compromises, including viruses spam, Internet attacks, and even theft. As you’d expect, the most prominent aspect of the suite is its Anti-Virus, which is reliable and easy. It allows you to scan your whole system, or selected parts of it, for viruses, as well as move infected files to quarantine, and schedule scans periodically.
If you’re fed up with getting calls and texts from people you’re not interested in talking to, then you’ll love the Anti-Spam feature in Kaspersky Mobile Security. This allows you to set up black lists and white lists to block or grant access to specified contacts, depending on whether or not you want to speak to them.
For me, the most useful tool within Kaspersky Mobile Security is the Anti-Theft feature. Once configured, this allows you to remotely block your SIM if your phone gets lost or stolen to prevent anyone accessing your personal data. Better still, Anti-Theft comes with a tool that lets you find your missing mobile via GPS. With SMS Find, you just send a text to your number and the software retrieves the GPS coordinates and displays its exact location in Google Maps.
With other safety features such as encryption, parental controls, and firewall, Kaspersky Mobile Security represents a consummate suite for taking care of all your security needs. The only trouble with such an array of options is that it’s quite easy to get lost in the menu system, so a bit of patience is needed to learn where everything is within the suite.
That aside, Kaspersky Mobile Security has such a powerful arsenal of tools that it’s probably the best way to protect your phone from anything nasty.

Now that more of us are connected to the Internet via our PDAs or phones, it’s no surprise that the threat of viruses and hacks on mobile devices has increased. Moreover, it’s no surprise that antivirus software developers are warning us to get protected against mobile attacks.
Norton Smartphone Security is the handheld equivalent of Symantec’s famous PC protection utility. This Windows Mobile version provides real-time protection from network threats and a spam filter for SMS that lets you weed out unwanted messages through the use of blacklists and whitelists.
The installation procedure for Norton Smartphone Security is a bit long-winded, but once the program is running it offers an efficient and hassle-free way of protecting your device. The Antivirus module can be set to auto-protect your Smartphone, as well as giving you the ability to perform complete virus scans and schedule scans at preset intervals. Options include the ability to perform automatic actions when a virus is detected (Log Only, Deny Access, Delete, or Quarantine), perform regular updates via LiveUpdate, and configure proxies.
Annoyingly, the firewall element in Norton Smartphone Security, is located in a completely separate interface to the Antivirus section, so you have to close one to switch to the other. The firewall system is pretty efficient though, and there are four different security levels you can choose from (Trust No One, Paranoid, Cautious, or Trust All).
All in all, Norton Smartphone Security offers a convenient and efficient way of keeping the nasty stuff away from your mobile device.

Hamachi 2.0.1.62-Create a safe private network between two computers

The P2P protocol is frequently used to exchange files and other data between users, but some people regard it as quite an insecure method.
If you are too are worried about security when it comes to online transfers, use Hamachi instead. This handy tool lets you connect two computers via the Internet by creating your own private network and protecting it with industry-standard encryption algorithms. This means that your communications will be safe from prying eyes at all times, creating a private channel between both computers.
Hamachi features a simple interface that enables you to create personal safe networks in just a couple of steps. At first sight, it all looks very easy to use. Plus your connection is conveniently protected by an AES-256 algorithm.
Complications arise later on when trying to share files between computers: you’ll have to do it through network sharing on Windows because it’s not a feature Hamachi itself supports. In the end, I have to admit we were unable to share files over Hamachi during our tests – you know how stubborn Windows folder sharing configuration can get. Oh well, at least we could have a chat – a very safe one, of course.
Hamachi is a great solution to establish safe, private P2P connections between two computers; unfortunately it’s not as easy to use as it seems at first sight.
