iPodRobot iPod Video Converter 3.1.0.2567 – Convert video for your iPod or iPhone

Do you want to put videos onto your iPod or iPhone? iPodRobot iPod Video Converter will convert any of your video files so they can be imported into iTunes and uploaded to your device.

Many converters we test are functional but with irritations like constant ‘upgrade to pro’ notices, but iPodRobot really is free and has no functional limitations.

To convert your video, simply drag the file or files into the left hand window, then check the right hand Output pane. You can choose the output format, quality, and audio and video settings here, although it’s easiest to just select which iThing you have, and the other options will be optimized for your particular player.

Another interesting option is merge, which will stick together as many files as you want into one long video. This even works if the original videos are in different formats, which is pretty neat. There is also a trim video option which is dead easy to use, but unfortunately misses a play function, so you have to trim by scrolling to the frame you want, a pain if you want to trim to when audio starts or stop.

For the image conscious, there are seven skins to choose from so it won’t upset the aesthetics of your desktop. Aside from this, it’s not the most attractive program available, but it’s not garish and it’s certainly functional.

iPodRobot iPod Video Converter is an ideal application for anyone who wants to convert video for their iPod, or to MPEG4 in general.

Top 5 free software tools to take care of your drivers

Drivers are an essential element on your system. If you don’t have them properly installed of if they’re outdated, you’re more likely to suffer continuous computer crashes. I still remember those good old days when drivers came bundled with their correspondent piece of hardware in a 3.5” diskette. Now most hardware companies include a download [...]

emoze 2.2.44-Send emails in real time from your phone

If you constantly need access to email and are fed up with ducking into Internet cafes to check your latest messages then give emoze a try.

emoze is a push email and messaging service for your mobile phone, that lets you send and receive messages in real time. Not only this, but it also gives you access to your contacts, tasks and calendar events.

Once you’ve installed emoze and configured your Internet connection you need to choose an account type. You can select between Office Mail, Gmail, POP3 or Facebook. In this free version you can only run one account at a time, but upgrade to the Enterprise edition and you’ll be able to have multiple accounts running at the same time.

The Office Mail option in emoze allows you to access your Outlook email, calendar, tasks, etc. either via the Outlook Web Access server or by syncing your device with your PC. Gmail obviously gives you access to your Google Mail messages, and Facebook lets you send and receive messages through the popular social network. Unfortunately, in the case of Facebook and Gmail, you are pretty much limited to reading and writing message, and emoze doesn’t give you access to the full range of features from these services.

That said, emoze does provide a quick and convenient way of keeping up with your email and Facebook messages while you’re on the move.

Aurora is definitely one of the best photo optimization and sharing apps I’ve tried and the great news is, the developers are currently offering a 24 hour free offer. Normally the app would set you back $20. All you have to do is click on the “Buy Now” links for either Mac or Windows and [...]

Plop Art Sudoku Lite 1.0-Sudoku for people who hate numbers

I don’t know about you but when I see a Sudoku grid it reminds me of horrible math exams which really puts me off playing. If you’re as afraid of numbers as me then give Plop Art Sudoku a try.

It works in much the same way as classic Sudoku, only in Plop Art Sudoku the numbers are replaced by cute little creatures. For me, it made the game much easier and more enjoyable than the numeric version. All you need to do is tap on an empty space and then choose a character from the box at the top of the grid. If the character can fit there you’ll get a messages saying ‘Great’. If not, you’ll have to try again.

There are 100 different puzzles to play in Plop Art Sudoku, so this is a game that will keep you hooked for some time. Unfortunately, you’ll need to upgrade in order to play 99 of the puzzles because, rather stingily, only three levels are playable in this Lite version.

The graphics in Plop Art Sudoku are very bright and colorful, and the sound effects are fun too. The chirruping cricket noise that plays incessantly in the background does get pretty annoying though.

For kids, or anyone who prefers thinking in pictures rather than numbers, Plop Art Sudoku is worth investigating as an alternative to the popular puzzle game.

Resco Sokoban 2.12 (SP)-Box-pushing fun on your Smartphone

Sokoban is one of the all-time classic puzzlers, and Resco’s version of the box-pushing game is one of the best you’ll find for Windows Mobile.

The object of Resco Sokoban is to push boxes into their correct position in a crowded warehouse. Boxes can only be pushed, never pulled, so you have to use all your cunning and logic skills to avoid getting stuck. The game features more than 1,000 levels, of increasing difficulty, some of which can take hours, or even days, to figure out.

The controls in Resco Sokoban are pretty easy to figure out, and you can walk around using the directional buttons or the number keys. Your objective is to try to complete the puzzles in the quickest time possible, and your highest scores are kept in a log. The full version of Resco Sokoban even allows you to compete against others by posting your high scores online.

This demo version of Resco Sokoban does not allow you to access online high scores, neither does it let you choose a character. Oh, and you can only play three of the levels. All in all, it’s a pretty limited demo really.

It might be worth an upgrade though, since Resco Sokoban combines simple controls with addictive gameplay to create a highly enjoyable challenge.

Earlier this year I wrote about my enthusiasm for music app Spotify and today I’m pleased to read it’s going to get even better with CD quality streaming for premium users. A premium account currently costs around $10 per month and essentially means that your music doesn’t get interrupted by adverts. However, for the time [...]
