mDiamondz (SP) – Connect the diamonds to score points

Logic games that involve forming lines from different colored pieces are nothing new but, as mDiamondz proves, they can still be highly addictive.

The object of mDiamondz is to make rows or columns of same-colored pieces by switching them around. There are two different game modes to tackle. In the first of these, KlikerZz, you must join a minimum of two diamonds together. The second game mode, SwaperZz, is a little trickier, as you need to create at least a trio of diamonds of the same color by swapping two pieces around.

Graphically, mDiamondz is very neat, although the pieces are very small, so you’ll have to hold your mobile very close to your eyes. The techno music soundtrack quickly becomes annoying, as do the weird speech and flushing toilet sound effects.

Playing mDiamondz is very addictive and the challenge of getting rid of all of the diamonds on the board is a tough one. What’s more, there are three different difficulty levels to try and crack.

mDiamondz is a good way to waste some time, as long as you can put up with the tiny graphics and annoying sounds.

If you’ve played any of the Snowed In games before then you’ll know just how addictive they can be. Now in its seventh year, this latest version of the game proves to be a real cracker.

Snowed In 7 – White Christmas charges you with the task of helping Santa round up the presents that have been frozen in the ice. The presents are located in squares arranged on a large grid, and must be matched up into rows or columns of three or more matching items. You do this by clicking on a present then selecting where you want to move it to (it has to be an adjacent square).

It’s great fun to play, and although Snowed In 7 can get a bit repetitive, you should be coming back to it for quite a while to try to beat the high score on both the Easy and Timed game modes.

In terms of its presentation, Snowed In 7 looks and sounds great. Though small, the graphics are cute and colorful, and the Christmassy music and sound effects make this a real festive cracker.

Snowed In 7 – White Christmas is one game you’ll still be playing long after Boxing Day.

iPodRobot iPod Video Converter 3.1.0.2567 – Convert video for your iPod or iPhone

Do you want to put videos onto your iPod or iPhone? iPodRobot iPod Video Converter will convert any of your video files so they can be imported into iTunes and uploaded to your device.

Many converters we test are functional but with irritations like constant ‘upgrade to pro’ notices, but iPodRobot really is free and has no functional limitations.

To convert your video, simply drag the file or files into the left hand window, then check the right hand Output pane. You can choose the output format, quality, and audio and video settings here, although it’s easiest to just select which iThing you have, and the other options will be optimized for your particular player.

Another interesting option is merge, which will stick together as many files as you want into one long video. This even works if the original videos are in different formats, which is pretty neat. There is also a trim video option which is dead easy to use, but unfortunately misses a play function, so you have to trim by scrolling to the frame you want, a pain if you want to trim to when audio starts or stop.

For the image conscious, there are seven skins to choose from so it won’t upset the aesthetics of your desktop. Aside from this, it’s not the most attractive program available, but it’s not garish and it’s certainly functional.

iPodRobot iPod Video Converter is an ideal application for anyone who wants to convert video for their iPod, or to MPEG4 in general.
